INVESTIGATION OF DECOMPOSITION CATALYSTS FOR 98% HYDROGEN PEROXIDE.

Abstract

Decomposition catalysts for 98% H2O2 were prepared in fifty different compositions. Flood tests with H2O2 were used to compare the starting response, over-all activity, and durability of the catalysts. Several materials were then selected for development into suitable forms for rocket motor applications. The use of small percentages of additives and the variation of the preparation temperatures were investigated. A gravity feed, pulse motor was used for preliminary evaluation of the catalysts. More definitive motor testing was begun with standardization tests for a modified 40 pound thrust motor. (Author)
