LESSONS LEARNED, HEADQUARTERS, 1ST CAVALRY DIVISION (AM)

Abstract

During the period 1 May to 31 July 1967, the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) conducted search and destroy, village cordon and search operations, and pacification programs in its area of operation. Operation PERSHING which started on 11 February 1967, continued in Binh Dinh Province. Operation DAZZLEM providing security of Camp Radcliff and the Division TAOR, and Operation BYRD, a one battalion task force under the control of I FFORCEV in the vicinity of Phan Thiet also continued. The 3rd Brigade was employed in Operation GREELY under operational control of the 4th Infantry Division during the period 24 June to 25 July in Kontum Province. Concurrent with tactical operations the Camp Radcliff base development program continued.
