ADVANCED THRUST VECTOR CONTROL PRELIMINARY DESIGN COMPUTER PROGRAM. VOLUME IV. TEST CASES.

Abstract

The program discussion describes the contents and capabilities of the computer program, which was developed to (1) evaluate preliminary duty cycles for a missile system, (2) develop specifications for the control system being employed, (3) perform preliminary design analyses on any of the control options, and (4) predict the performance capability of a vehicle utilizing the control system characteristics obtained from the program. The seven potential control systems are liquid injection thrust vector control, hot gas thrust vector control, gimbal ring, ball and socket, flexible seal, jet tabs, and aerodynamic surfaces. The potential thrust vector control systems can be applied, with limited option, to seven nozzle types installed on motor cases, for which two material options are available: metal and filament wound glass.
