The Timation I Satellite

Abstract

An experimental navigation satellite was launched on May 31, 1967, by NRL under a program sponsored by the Naval Air Systems Command. A passive ranging technique has been used both for the navigation of fixed and moving vehicles and for the accurate transfer of time between separated points. This report discusses the navigation principles involved but is primarily concerned with the components of the satellite.
