ONE-WAY VOICE COMMUNICATION WITH PORPOISES

Abstract

Child educational techniques. were used as a new method of training porpoises. To test the effectiveness of this method, oral commands were given to porpoises to retrieve several objects, and their responses were noted. The results demonstrate the feasibility of this method of training: the porpoises' learning rate was very rapid and, taking into account their confined and unnatural environment, may have approached that of young children.
