EFFECT OF STORAGE ON LUBRICATING GREASE COMPATIBILITY
Abstract
The compatibility of binary mixtures of twelve types of lubricating greases, when mixed in the three component ratios, 10-90, 50-50, and 90-10, (and after storage for eighteen months) was determined. Approximately 15% of the grease mixtures were re-examined for compatibility after three years storage. The greases studied included soap thickened, non-soap thickened, and an organic thickened product. Both mineral oil and synthetic fluid types were represented. A table was prepared giving the compatibility data obtained after eighteeen months storage,(and, in a limited number of cases, after three years storage). Data obtained on similar mixtures immediately after preparation is given for comparison.
