FINAL SUMMARY REPORT FOR ENGINEERING FABRICATION, ASSEMBLY AND TESTING OF THE XM 138 TRAINING WARHEAD SECTION (TYPE X)

Abstract

Research is concerned with engineering, fabrication and testing of eighteen (18) XM 138 Training Warhead Sections (Type X(U)) as well as interface and mono-detail drawings of the device. Most items were completed according to schedule with no unusual problems or circumstances. Problem areas appeared primarily in the testing phases. The production electrical test equipment originally requested by Picatinny Arsenal was never constructed due to lack of design incompatible with warhead, or lack of revision and approval. These events occurred at different times with the result that all warheads were completed and tested, using laboratory equipment, rather than delay the delivery of the completed warheads.
