LONG-TERM STORAGE OF LYOPHILIZED PREPARATIONS IN VACUUM TEST TUBES AND LOCAL USE OF PANCREATIN IN DEEP BURNS.
Abstract
A protective layer of emalite or nitrolak does not insure a substantial increase in the dura tion of preservation of a high vacuum in test tubes closed with rubber stoppers. The loss of the vacuum in the test tubes proceeds gradually, the degree of loss being proportional to the duration of storage. Due to the difficulty of ideal insertion of the stoppers, vacuum test tubes can, bore practical purposes, ensure the preservation of the vacuum for only a compara tively short period of time - within the limits of one year. On the basis of our observa tions, a four to five-year period is a limit for the maintenance of a vacuum in test tubes closed with rubber stoppers (Donetskii). In the pres ence of deep burns, a 5 percent aqueous solution of pancreatin causes liquefaction of necrotic tissues, which accelerates their sloughing. The use of pancreatin on burns of degree III B and IV shortens the time required prior to skin transplantation (Elizarov).
