AN EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF POWDER SAMPLE POROSITY ON X-RAY INTEGRATED INTENSITIES

Abstract

Measurements are presented which support a simple derivation for the effect of porosity on the integrated intensity of Bragg peaks in powders. A practical method of correcting for porosity is presented which makes use of fluorescent radiation from the sample.
