DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF SOME COMMON HIGH EXPLOSIVES

Abstract

In connection with projects involving nuclear irradiation of explosives and studies of the feasibility of using dielectric heating for de termining induction times and related experi ments, it was required that various electrical properties of certain high explosives be known, such as resistivity, dielectric constant at both high and low frequencies, dissipation factor, and dielectric strength. Explosives to be measured included PBX, TNT, Composition B (Comp. B), Baratol, Octol, and PBX-9404.
