LABORATORY OUTBREAK OF HEMORRHAGIC FEVER WITH A RENAL SYNDROME

Abstract

Facts were obtained about the mechanism of trans mitting hemorrhagic fever with a renal syndrome. A complete understanding has been introduced on the question of the possibility of air-borne in fection. It has been established that people are highly susceptible to the virus of hemorrhagic fever with a renal syndrome, as evidenced by the illness of 89.6% of the personnel working con stantly in the contaminated premises, and 42% of the personnel who visited the premises 1-3 times. In 32 cases it was possible to establish accu rately the duration of the incubation period, which consisted on the average of 20.4 days with a variation of 14-32 days. It confirms the idea about immunity to the disease in those who pre viously have had it: 5 workers of those working constantly in the infected area had this disease previously (1-3 years ago) and didn't become ill during the present outbreak.
