AN APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF A DEVELOPING ECONOMY BY OPERATIONAL GAMING

Abstract

The possible use of operational gaming, or simulation involving human players, to examine an economy as a whole is considered. It is believed that this operations research technique could become an extremely useful tool for the study of a developing economy. In the present state of the art it is not going to provide, with confidence, direct recommendations on what to do about matters of national policy. Rather it is an educational device, providing both ideas and insights, useful for the generation and preliminary comparison of alternative economic policies.
