A RAPID METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE STRONTIUM-90 CONTENT OF MILK,

Abstract

This paper carries a description of a rapid ex traction method for determining Sr90 content in milk. The procedure is based on the extraction of Y90, which is in equilibrium with Sr90 in milk, by means of tributyliphosphate, with sub sequent re-extraction of yttrium into water and measurement of its radioactivity on a low back ground unit. The proposed method may be employed for the purpose of administrative control and check-up. (Author)
