ON THE STAINING OF PARAAGGLUTINATING E. COLI STRAINS WITH FLUORESCENT SERA OF DIFFERENT SPECIFICITY,

Abstract

Paraagglutinizing E. coli strains, both isolated naturally and obtained experimentally, were able in different degrees to adsorb serum proteins of various specificity. In staining E. coli parastrains with fluorescent sera of different specificity (through the direct and indirect method), microbe cell fluorescence of differing structural character and intensity was observed. In a number of cases bright parastrain fluor escence was noted that was indistinguishable from that of the pathogenic bacteria of the intestinal group processed by homologous serum.
