CARDIOVASCULAR EFFECTS OF REFEEDING STRESS FOLLOWING STARVATION. PART 11. EFFECTS OF LONG TERM STARVATION-REFEEDING EPISODES

Abstract

The research project was undertaken to determine what, if any, are the principal factors in the diet which may induce and/or aggravate cardiovascular stress during refeeding following starvation. This report is concerned with the responses of young adult swine to a second long term starvation episode and refeeding, initially with eigher pure glucose or pure corn oil and subsequently with diets high in content of either glucose or corn oil.
