PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ULTRAPURE POLYSTYRENE SAMPLES

Abstract

The development of a relatively large-scale inert gas reactor for use in the preparation of polystyrene via an anionic polymerization is de scribed. The polymers were prepared with predictable molecular weights and very narrow molecular weight distributions. Methods used to characterize and purify the samples are discussed. Ultracentrifuge data are presented.
