COMPARISON OF ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATIONS AND DATA PROCESSING DESIGNS FOR THE CONUS LOGISTICS SYSTEM

Abstract

Two alternative designs for the communications and data processing portion of the Navy supply system in CONUS are described and compared in terms of estimated costs and performance characteristics. The two designs were selected for investigation on the basis that they appeared to be promising and that they were substantially different from each other. However, both designs reflect current Defense Department trends toward standardization and centralization.
