A METHOD OF OBTAINING AN OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER FILM COEFFICIENT IN SOLID FUEL ROCKET NOZZLES

Abstract

A method to determine an overall total film co efficient is proposed whereby special ablative thermocouples are used to record the inside surface temperatures of a nozzle during firing. The recorded temperatures are then used as boundary conditions for a transient wall temperature equation. The equation is then solved for the total film coefficient.
