SYNTHESIS OF ELASTOMERS CONTAINING Si-N BONDS IN THE MAIN CHAIN

Abstract

Polymers with intrinsic viscosities in toluene of up to 1.80 have been prepared by the condensation of silazanes with organic diols. Elemental analyses and infrared spectra are reported for several of the polymers, and their hydrolytic and thermal stability are discussed. The prepara tions of a polymer from p-phenylenebis(dimethyl methylaminosilane), and the reactions of cyclic silazanes under the influence of acids and bases are also described.
