AN L-BAND TUNNEL DIODE OSCILLATOR

Abstract

Efforts were continued on the development of a tunable tunnel diodes oscillator giving 25 mu power output in the frequency range 1660 to 1700 Mc for radios and applications. A breadboard model oscillator was delivered. Tunnel diodes were fabricated from a more highly doped crystal having peak currents of 500 ma with cutoff frequencies in excess of 9 kmc. Several of the diodes made from the highly doped crystals were tested in sne oscillators and gave powers of 24 to 28 mw at 1700 Mc. Preliminary tests were on a tunnel diode current regulator and also on the amplitude modulation of the strip line oscillators.
