A Method for the Collection of Sweat and its Analysis in the Normal Adult

Abstract

The sweat test has been used as a relatively unstandardized tool in the evaluation of the relationship of cystic fibrosis to adult medicine. An attempt is made to review the information available to date on the genetics of cystic fibrosis relative to adult disease. The use of the sweat test as a diagnostic tool in adults is evaluated and the limitations pointed out. A method for the collection and analysis of sweat electrolytes is described and applied to a study of a large population of normal adults.
