Abstract

There is a 4% incidence of rheumatism among the school children of the Kirovskiy rayon of Ufa. It is highest in the 11-15 year age group. The most frequent precursors of rheumatism are angina, chronic tonsillitis, and scarlet fever. As a rule, the precursors of rheumatic recidiv ism are angina, an acute attack of chronic tonsillitis, grippe, and catarrh of the upper repiratory passages. The majority of rheumatic patients had a chronic focus of infection: 79.4% had chronic tonsillitis; 67.3% - dental caries. In 52% of children in a latent rheumatic phase, there was evidence of moderately expressed clinical signs of the rheumatic process, inten sified after an acute phase of chronic tonsil litis, grippe, and catarrh of the upper res piratory passages.
