WAVE PROPAGATION ON A COMPOSITE AND INHOMOGENEOUS STRING,

Abstract

A particular instance of one-dimensional wave propagation is discussed which may be con veniently described in terms of the small ampli tude transverse motions of a stretched string. It is assumed that the string, of infinite over all length and initially rectilinear shape, has a composite nature as regards its material aspect or density. (Author)
