ABL/X-98 ''HETRAN'' - COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR TRANS IENT HEAT TRANSFER IN NOZZLES,

Abstract

The purpose of the program is to calculate the temperature at any point in a rocket nozzle structure at any instant during the firing, given the initial nozzle geometry, materials of con struction and thermal properties, and the film heat transfer coefficients on the propellant gas side and external boundaries. Heat transfer by conduction or internal generation within the material, convection and radiation at any mater ial boundaries, variations with temperature of the thermal properties of the materials, and vari ation with time of boundary conditions and con vective plus radiative heat transfer rates are within the program's scope. The Hetran program has been designed to handle as many as 175 nodes, 100 boundary conditions and 200 time steps. It consistency, presence of required tables, and in addition calculates the area and volune for regular nodes. Part II calculates the required coefficients for the heat balance equation and solves the equations for the unknown temperature. (Author)
