DEVELOPMENT OF LOW NOISE TRAVELING-WAVE TUBES. PHASE III. ENVIRONMENTALIZATION.
Abstract
Efforts were continued on the development of low-noise, traveling-wave tubes for operation in the X-, C-, S-, and L-band regions. The tubes will be environmentalized to operate under the following conditions: Shock, 15g; temperature, -54C to 71C; altitude, 70,000 feet; and vibration 5 to 55 cps. An improvement in magnet stack construction tec has given almost 100% stack-to-stack reproducibility. The first preliminary performance tests were made on the M5058 and the M5056 with the new helix design. The preliminary results for both tube types are encouraging. (Author)
