ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF REFRACTORY MATERIALS,

Abstract

A detailed survey of pertinent literature on electrical characteristics of refractory materi als was made back to 1948. Important references back to 1900 are included. The following proper ties are considered, (1) resistivity (or conduc tivity), (2) thermoelectric power, (3) magnetic properties, susceptibility, Hall effect, and dielectric properties. Data on melting points, densities, conduction, and magnetic type have been included. Other electrical characteristics, such as photoconductive or piezoelectric natures, are included where such data are available. All recognized compounds are included even though data are not available for some mater Pertinent graphical information is presented with the discussion. These curves represent detailed investigations of the fundamental properties as functions of temperature, density, or composition. A short section is included on methods of preparation of the various categories of materials. (Author)
