Abstract

The existing analytical solutions for gas-lubri cated stepped pads are reviewed and simplified. Experiments performed on gas lubricated stepped pads are described, and the experimental results are used to verify the analytical solutions. Finally, design curves, based on a combination of analytical and experimental results, are pre sented, and a design procedure, including sample calculations, is given. (Author)
