A METHOD OF ANALYZING TIME DEPENDENT CYLINDRICAL DISCHARGES,

Abstract

Expressions are developed for electron, ion and total current in a cylindrical discharge excited by an externally generated delta function of elec trons. The problem solved is an idealized model of a cylindrical discharge excited by an alpha particle or by a spark light source. Approxima tions based on the nature of the first Townsend coefficient and the ion velocity are used. The expression for total current shows excellent agreement with published experimental curves.
