THERMAL INJURY OF THE SKIN

Abstract

The objective of these studies up o the curentperiod has been to determine whether or not the degradation products following tissueinjury, specifically thermal, can be lethal and oxic to the host; to isolate and identfy these 'toxins' to determine whether these 'toxins' have the capacity ofproducing 'autoantibodies' in theinjued host; and to determine if te blod of paties convalescingfrm extensive thermal injury will counteract the toxemia and reduce the mortality of severely burned human subjects.
