INTERFACE MOTION IN PHASE TRANSFORMATION. MOR PHOLOGY OF BAINITE IN HYPOEUTECTOID STEELS,
Abstract
A two surface metallographic technique has been used to study the morphology of upper and lower bainite in a series of low to medium alloy hypo eutectoid steels. Upper bainite (produced at 925 F) forms as long, thin needles or rods with an approximately rectangular cross section while lower bainite (produced at 575 F) forms as true plates. (Author)
