COMPUTER RELIABILITY STUDY.

Abstract

The problem of increasing the reliability of digital computers is approached on the basis that not all part failures result in computer failures. A measure of performance, which measures computer failures, rather than part failures, is developed. Two techniques for increasing reliability are developed, and the value of these is demonstrated by application of the measurement method. The basic logic de sign of a digital computer is presented. Tech niques for increasing the reliability of the computer are incorporated in the design, and the measure of performance developed in the report is used to evaluate and compare the original and modified designs.
