NEW THERMODIFFUSION DATA ON THE CHROMIUM-MOLYB DENUM SYSTEM,

Abstract

In the diffusion of Cr into Mo at 1,400 C in a vacuum furnace phase recrystallization has been discovered through metallographic analysis. This is evidence of the ct that in the Cr-Mo system in the solid state there exists an area, previous ly not discovered, with a special structure and properties. The presence of the indicated area is confirmed also by other analyses. Thus Cr and Mo in the solid state do not form a continuous series of solid solutions as would be inferred from the literature on the subject. (Author)
