SPECTROSCOPIC AND THEORETICAL STUDIES OF MOLE CULES WITH BONDING WHICH DEVIATES FROM NORMAL VALENCE RULES.

Abstract

Research was devoted to the elucidation of the structural properties and chemical bonding of molecules with bonding that deviates from normal valence rules. Effort was focused on three lines of attack. (1) Spectroscopic studies of the reactivity and molecular structure of free rad icals and reactive molecules using the matrix isolation method. (2) Spectroscopic studies of stable molecules selected to develop and expand the applicability of the matrix isolation method. (3) Development of new and novctroscopic techniques to facilitate future infrared studies of chemical species with extreme reactivity. (Author)
