SHORT-TERM TREATMENT OF LEARNING DIFFICULTY IN A CHILD,

Abstract

Emotional stresses in a child may at times result in learning difficulties. A reading problem is presented that occurred after the child was separated from the father. The mother's reaction and personality have been stressed as important factors contributing to the child's difficulties. An awareness of the psychodynamics involved and, in appropriate cases, supportive short-term therapy, focusing attention on the parent, may be helpful to the physician encountering this problem.
