NEW LOW-CONTRAST DEVELOPER FOR RAPID PROCESSING OF AERIAL AND DUPLICATING FILMS.

Abstract

A low-contrast photographic developer has been formulated for rapid processing (90 F) of currently available aerial reconnaissance and duplicating films. Active developing agents are 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone (Phenidone) and Hydroquinone. Tests indicate that the developer can best be used with the 8401 (Kodak Plus-X Aerecon), SO-243 (Kodak High Definition), SO-278 (Kodak Fine Grain Duplicating), and 5227-84 (Type 1A Class G2 Films). The developer produces gammas from 1.0 to 1.5 while maintaining rated emulsion speeds. This developer can also be used for processing at 68 F, although it produces higher contrast results under these conditions. (Author)
