CONTINUATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING WATER PURIFICATION

Abstract

The effects of pH on the action of various chemicals tested with respect to organism destruction are shown. Lowering the pH enhanced the action of chlorine and iodine. The result with colloidal silver indicated no effect of pH at low concentrations but high concentrations showed complete inhibition of the organisms. The effect of temperature on the action of colloidal silver is shown. As the temperature increased from 0 to 37 deg C. there was a marked increase in the inhibitory properties of colloidal silver.
