ON THE EVALUATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE REAB SORPTION EFFECT ON THE INTENSITY OF SPECTRAL LINES,

Abstract

New relationships were obtained which enable one to establish limit concentrations of atoms in plasma, below which distortions introduced into the integral intensity of a spectral line, as a result of its reabsorption, are known not to ex ceed 2%. Conditions are systemized for lowering the influence of the reabsorption effect, and a discussion is given of the results of some work done for revealing the mechanism of the excita tion of the atoms taking into consideration the earlier unwarrantedly ignored secondary processes.
