AN ATTEMPT TO SYNTHESIZE A COORDINATION POLYMER OF THE TYPE (-M(AA)Y-)X,

Abstract

The attempt to make Zn(IDP)PhPO3 led, instead, to Zn2(IDEP)(PhPO3)2 where IDP represents 2,2-imino dipyridine. The presumably analogous Zn(py)PhPO3 was also prepared. It is suggested that these substances are polymers. Their thermal stabilities, however, are not high. This is related to the presence of neutral ligands and a strong bridging group. Reasons for the formation of the product observed are discussed. (Author)
