ANTENNA SITING STUDY.

Abstract

The fundamental factors that can affect the design of a low-noise antenna are discussed. The current-integration method for obtaining the antenna radiation pattern is shown to reveal the nature of the wide-angle side lobes and the radiation fields existing in the shadow region of the antenna. The diffraction fields can be disregarded in the design of large, low-noise ground-based antennas (D >> 10 lamda). Some of the effects are experimentally verified. (Author)
