PSYCHIATRIC INTERVIEWING AND MULTISTAGE DECISION PROCESSES OF ADAPTIVE TYPE,

Abstract

The present paper is intended as a prelude to subsequent papers in which we shall describe in detail various simulations of different phases of psychiatric interviewing, and the techniques that can be used to construct these simulation processes. In the following pages, we shall provide a nontechnical lexicon of such funda mental concepts as 'decision process,' 'multistage process,' 'policy,' 'information pattern,' 'adaptive policy,' and 'sequential machine.'
