OPERATIONAL TEST AND EVALUATION VERBAL WARNING SYSTEM.

Abstract

This test was conducted to determine the degree that a verbal warning system would enhance the pilots' ability to cope with certain system malfunctions and/or unsafe operating conditions. The verbal warnings produced significant im provement in pilot reaction time, especially during periods of heavy workoad (performance and auditory stress). It is a valuable device to supplement the present warning system in tactical fighter aircraft. The system is also used to remind the pilot of step by step corrective action to be taken. (Author)
