LARGE-SCALE SPECTRAL ENERGY CHANGES IN BARO TROPIC AND BAROCLINIC MOTIONS,

Abstract

The problem of spectral energy fluxes in baro tropic motions were previously considered. Some supplementary consideratie presented, together with an example from the atmosphere. The condition for a free convertion of potential into kinetic energy, in geostrophically balanced flow were previously studied, assuming tempera ture to change according to advection. Vertical velocities are included in the adiabatic equa rion. Rhw impoerance of non-linear interactions between temperature- and velocity fields, for the formation of disturbances, is reported.
