SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Abstract

The Subcommittee on Scientific and Technical Information was appointed by the Defense Science Board to study scientific and technical communication within the Department of Defense and to propose recommendations for the improvement of the Department's information program concerning research, development, testing and evaluation. The Subcommittee's recommendations concerning a scientific and technical information program for the Department of Defense are presented under four major headings: (1) general assignment of responsibility; (2) objectives and scope of the scientific and technical information system; (3) functions of the scientific and technical information system; (4) organizational components of the scientific and technical information system.
