HIGHER ORDER RECURSION FORMULAE FOR INTEGRAL ROOTS OF REAL NUMBERS,

Abstract

This note extends work on the computation of an integral root of a number previously examined in the literature, and provides recursion sequences exhibiting higher-than-second-order convergence as the desired root is approached. Particular sequences examined in detail in this note require the use of only the four basic arithmetic operations and are well suited to manual computations to extent the accuracy of available estimates.
