INFRARED HORIZON STUDIES.

Abstract

The preparation and evaluation of an infrared interferometer spectrometer, Block Associates, Inc., Model I6T, used in conjunction with a Newtonian telescope for the balloon-borne measurement of the earth's infrared horizon is described. Auxiliary systems were built and tested in support of the spectrometer. A balloon flight was held on February 14, 1963. The balloon failed to reach the float altitude of 100,000 feet and, therefore, no spectral data could be obtained. (Author)
