STUDY OF A SERVO ACTUATOR DESIGN AND TEST AND FABRICATION OF AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL,

Abstract

A description is pr1nted of work accomplished in the study, design, manufacture and test of a unique integrated servo actuator. The primary objective was to prove the feasibility of incor orating the servo valve, the other vital com ponents, inside the actuator piston for protection from temperature and nuclear radiation environ ments. Included are design calculations, de scription of operation with test results. In cluded also is an evaluation of the design indicating the concept can be feasibly mechanized to give performance comparable to conventional servo actuators. Recommendations are made con cerning future design refinements which can be made and upgrading of the concept to an extreme environment model. (Author)
