RECRYSTALLIZATION OF SINGLE CRYSTALS.

Abstract

Grain boundary motion in silver bi-crystals ob tained by sintering of two single crystals has been studied. The work on growth selection in strained single crystals after artificial nucle ation has been continued. Interesting results on Al and Al-Mn alloys and on Ag have been ob tained. The theoretical interpretation of these results has been promoted by (1) introduction of quantitative description of the orientation scat tering of the crystals obtained by growth selec tion, (2) by developing a theory of growth selec tion in single crystals on a statistical basis and by applying this theory to the above men tioned measurements, and (3) by improving the physical theory of grain boundary motion in the presence of impurity atoms.
