MULTIPLE INTERNAL REFLECTIONS IN DIELECTRIC PRISMS.

Abstract

Research concerned the transmission of microwave beams around right angle corners by use of double curvature reflectors, the evaluation of the effect of multiple reflections in a prism device and computation of near zone antenna fields. A pair of dielectric prisms were used as an adjustable directional coupler, an adjust able attenuator, and a duplexing device. An analysis is given for the case of matched inter faces at the surfaces of the prisms. Theoretical derivation of the power transmitted to receivers located at right angles to the transmitter was carried out. Experimental results at wave lengths of 8.5 millimeters were in very good agreement with the theoretical prediction. (Author)
