FAR INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY.

Abstract

The purpose of the program has been to develop interferometric spectroscopy for the far infrared spectrum so that it may, among other uses, be used to study the spectrum of the sun (and moon, during eclipse) from balloon altitudes. During the first part of this program the research re sults obtained with a Rubens-Wood quartz-lens fo cal isolation apparatus. The focal isolation appa ratus was itself modified, but the most attention was given to detectors for use with it. A Golay cell, provided with diamond window, and a Barnes thermistor were used.
