HALL AND RESISTIVITY MEASUREMENTS

Abstract

Research was performed to determine the inherent phenomena causing semiconductivity in diamonds, with special consideration for the rare natural type II-b material. In the reported phase of this work, resistivity and Hall coefficient have been carefully measured on several type II-b samples over the temperature range of 100 K to 900 K. the apparatus developed for these measurements is described. From these measure ments, the activation energy of the principal acceptor level was determined for each specimen, and concentrations of donors and acceptors were deduced by a graphical method.
